Skills Update Edition 4, July 2007

Careers Expos & Research

ForestWorks' CEO, Michael Hartman, represented the Forest, Wood, Paper and Timber Products Industry at a recent Careers Expo in Geelong.  His involvement was part of a research project that will gather information to allow ForestWorks to build career expo kits for use by industry. The evening provided an opportunity to speak directly with secondary school students and their parents, to provide accurate and up-to-date information on career prospects and pathways within the industry, and address any issues or concerns relating to employment within the industry.   The Expo also provided an opportunity to gather feedback from students and to gain insight into what factors are important to them when choosing a career.  This information will be used to generate information in the form of a Career Attractiveness Kit aimed not at new industry entrants but at employers in our industry.
